The Inside | I Got it from Morocco
Baby, where'd you get yo etching from?
Tell me where'd you get yo etching from?
Baby, where'd you get yo etching from?
Tell me where'd you get yo etching from?
I got it from Morocco
I got it from Morocco
I got it from Morocco
I got it, got it, g-got it
How would I have articulated the inspiration behind these etched jewelry pieces if it weren't for the genius lyrics of will.i.am? A few years ago my close friend Newsha Ghaeli and I went to Morocco to attend the annual Gnaoua World Music Festival. Having never been, I was expecting a stronger European presence but was surprised and excited to find myself as a minority amidst North African travelers. Apart from enjoying the Gnaoua music itself, I was of course on a people watching frenzy. The local patterns and colours mimicked the rhythmic nature of the genre of music. Their street style was to die for, and everyone knows I looooove me some fancy pants.
